John Green is the Loser Who Threw the Cup

Tuesday, November 23rd, 2004

the loser nba fan in the white hat who threw the cup is just a menace to society.

analysis of espn brawl analysis

Sunday, November 21st, 2004

i’ve lost complete respect for stephan a. smith as an analyst, not that i had much to begin with. part if his analysis:

smith: “(jackson should have had a longer suspension than artest because artest was provoked)".

this is completely ludicrous.

billy hunter, head of the players association is almost as clueless, though at least it’s understandable that he would be posturing.

hunter: “(the suspension to artest was much too long. 30 games would have been more reasonable.)”

a little more. marc jackson is a comforting speaker with a comforting face, but his analysis leaves a lot to be desired.

he’s simply not acknowledging the gravity of the situation.

tolbert as no “street cred", but he’s the guy on that network who does the …

143 game suspensions for motown brawlers

Sunday, November 21st, 2004

espn just reported the following suspensions:

Artest - Season Jackson - 30 games O’Neal - 25 games Wallace - 6 games Johnson - 5 games

that’s more like it! it didn’t seem right that artest only got 30 games, and only 10 more games than jackson & o’neill, as first reporte by sportsline.

i’m comfortable with all of this, though i wasn’t privy of Johnson’s involvement.

fight video and pics are here

Saturday, November 20th, 2004

here’s the video of the artest brawl.

here’s some more pics and stuff on the fight.

marc stein of espn thinks the nba will emerge stronger from this. probably so.

rapid fire dialogue on detroit disaster

Saturday, November 20th, 2004

heated discussion on the big pacer/piston brawl over at the swamp.

a couple of my thoughts i’ve posted over there:

saw this live and it was the worst freaking thing i’ve seen in sports. it’s akin to the fans coming onto the field the last couple of years in baseball, but this is even worse. why? because this was more than just one or two ‘necks on the field against 50 some-odd baseball players.

this was dozens of fans against 12 nba players. beverages thrown. punches thrown. chairs thrown.

the guy in the white hat needs to do time.

ugly ugly ugly.

-the crew in studio was a bit too pro-player. as a professional athlete, you are held to a higher standard, …
